I don’t know if you like or not, but the truth is “You are 100% responsible for your life”.
Things happen in your life right or wrong will depend on yourself, not someone else that can take responsibility for it, except you.
- If you make the wrong investment decision — It’s your fault, not because of the government policies.
- If you fail for a test — It’s your fault, not because the test questions are too hard.
- If you were late for the meeting — It’s your fault, not because of the traffic jams.
When you face these mentioned situations and ready to take 100% responsibility for it. This is when you are ready to achieve the bigger goals in your life.
But have you ever hear someone says the things like
“Oh, this is not my fault, this is because of government policies…”
“Our projects fail because my colleagues are not good enough and I need to do all myself…”
“I try my best but I didn’t get lucky enough to win this game…”
I’m sure you will hear these kinds of the sentence at least one time in your life from the people surrounding you.
Yes, that’s all right when a person can’t get the things that they really want to achieve and also don’t want to admit the failures; and trying to find a reason to cover for it.
But if you really want to be a success, you need to learn the rule 100% — TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for your life.
All the successful people I know are the people who commit to following this rule. Have you ever hear the stories about Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Elon Musk complains about their failures as the results from their teams, the government policies while they did a good job for the project.
The answer is NO — If they fail for a project, they will take responsibility for their failure instead of blaming others.
As Elon Musk used to say about his failures with Space X in 2017 and fully take responsibility for his failures as the initial lessons for his future successes.
“The 4th, 5th and 6th critical failures” were not failures at all, as they were successful in their intent to deliver their payloads to orbit and that the landings were intended to be experimental.
This is the way how you will grow from the failures and achieve the goals that you set for yourself and your business.
But if we just focus on blame others and refuse to take responsibility for the failure (just want to be admired by the success), we will lose the chance for self-development as well as achieve the bigger goals.
Because the failures are the initial steps to achieve the amazing success!
So, how you can learn the rule 100% take responsibility for your life?
This is a big lesson that you hard to learn in one day, this is a yearly lesson.
It means that you need to really take care of what you do and fully take responsibility for it from the first day it starts until the day you finish it.
Because when the workload becomes bigger and more tasks to do that related to many people, you will feel overwhelming. So by practice from fully take responsibility from the small things, you are building up your responsibility character to prepare for the bigger tasks and challenges.
And also have someone asks me, how about if I work in a big project and having a lot of parties be involved in, how can I take full responsibility if something happens in this case?
Actually, to deal with this situation, I have some tips for you that you can apply here.
Firstly, having a clear expectation about what you can do in your authority?
- Because for a job that has a lot of parties related to, the clearer you have about what’s your authority, the better you can work on your responsibility.
- And make sure to take full responsibility in your authority. Control the things in your hand is easier and better than trying to control the things in others' hands.
Secondly, having a deadline with detailed instructions.
It will help you to control the income and outcome of the project. Because without having a clear deadline for the project and the detailed instructions, the ability to make the mistakes will be higher and get more risks for you when taking responsibility.
It also helps others understand what they are expected to do and when they need to do their job well.
Thirdly, the power of “CHOOSE”.
This is your exceptional gift in life.
It means that you can CHOOSE what to do and what not to do.
While having the right CHOOSE will help you to achieve a better result, the wrong CHOOSE can cause you a lot of trouble.
- You can CHOOSE if working with a good company with a little bit higher cost or a bad company with a lot of discounts but not make a guarantee for the results.
- Or you can CHOOSE to take a project that you don’t really want to do or can looking for another opportunity that makes you feel more interested in it.
These are 3 recommended tips to help you to grow your responsibility character to the next level to achieve a better result in your life that I believe will help you a lot in your journey.
And last but not least,
One of the best ways that you can grow your responsibility character for your life is by making your personal commitment to practice it in your daily activities every single day!
